Red River

Lake Texoma to Hwy 78

Located in Grayson and Fannin Counties along North Central Texas/Oklahoma border. A leisurely 32.5 mile section of river which can be broken into three trips. The Red River is an easy, fun and scenic river with almost no river traffic. It is wide with large sand and gravel bars. The Red offers excellent fishing for white, spotted, hybrid, stripped, and largemouth bass. Other common catches include channel, blue and flat head catfish.

Camping along the way is superb and the weather is good year-round. The water is clean and clear yet dependent on hydroelectric generation release from the Denison Dam. Generally late summer-early fall when electric demand is great and spring provide adequate water flow. At low water levels, expect to walk through some of the shallows.
